Reflections

   Writing has always been a "hobby" of sorts for me.  It began with a Christmas letter I sent out to my extended family and close family friends as a way to catch them up on my dance activities.  My Mom tried to relay information to members of the family  who seemed to be interested in my comings and goings, but it can be confusing if you are not familiar with the industry.  So began the family Christmas letter.  My Mother became my "editor" as I would call her to lend me her ear and listen as I read aloud then asked for her input/suggestions/corrections.  

     During my last professional partnership, I was approached by Christine Zona, a professional competitor/instructor, who had founded a monthly publication called Dance Notes.  It featured articles and interviews of notables in the dance community.  My partnership was just beginning, and she asked us to chronicle our first year together (On the Road with Mazen and Lisa); writing articles about our competitive journey - all aspects both good and not so good!  I enjoyed it immensely!  The year ended and soon after, so did our partnership.

   I began doing makeup and hair and a couple years later, Christine asked if I would write an article pertaining to makeup and hair advice.  No real strict guidelines, so HOORAY!  The first couple articles were easy.   Then I felt I had more to say.  The clients I worked with fueled my creativity and I began writing about my outlook on many different topics that found their way into the conversations I had with my ladies.   I wrote for Dance Notes from 2001-2002 then again from 2005-2009.  The articles I have on my site are from those publications.  Not all of them are present as I plan to modify the original versions to be more suitable for today's industry.  Bear with me as that may take some time!
